Nerja

All hikers who dare to explore the surroundings of Nerja will find here a splendid and different adventure.

Both the Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijarra and Alhama, and the natural area of the cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo are an example of the incredible geological diversity of the region. We can enjoy an amazing panoramic view.

The cliffs of the Maro-Cerro Gordo natural zone represent a coastal gap that begins just after Nerja and where many of the best beaches in Andalusia are concentrated.

The Natural Park of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama is extended by 40,000 hectares of land and is located between the provinces of Granada and Malaga. This particular Natural Park is characterized by its arid and robust landscape.
The summits of the mountains of the Sierras de Tejeda are much more than picturesque destinations for avid hikers, these peaks are important as they represent a natural border between Malaga and Granada. The skirt of the Tejeda and Almijara mountains border the Malaga side and are located in the heart of the Axarquía region.

La Alhama is the area to the west of Granada and stands out for the summit of Tejeda, which offers a spectacular view of the Mediterranean coast and the great variety of mountains that surrounds it and that extends up to 2,065 meters above sea level.

Both spring and autumn are the ideal seasons to go hiking in the Sierras de Tejada. During the summer, due to the extreme heat that ravages these regions during these months, we can only go hiking during the night, without forgetting that some of the summits of the Sierras de Tejeda offer impressive views of the sunset.

If you are looking for unobstructed views of the entire coastline, the Cuesta del Cielo walk is the perfect one for you. On clear days, the views are spectacular, as you can even get to see clearly the Moroccan coast.

We found three mountains of medium altitude in the immediate surroundings: Almendrón (1514m), Cielo (1508m) and Navachica (1830m). The sky rises only six kilometers away from the coast, which makes it a very popular mountain among hikers in the area.

The view from the top is excellent, as you can see the entire Costa del Sol between Almuñécar and Málaga, as well as the great peaks of the Sierra de Tejada and the Sierra de Almijara.

Enjoy the experience and the incredible views offered by the mountains of the coast of Nerja.
